What’s the difference between Touch Rugby and Contact Rugby Union?

Touch Rugby is a non-contact version of the game, where tackles are replaced with a simple touch. It’s focuses on passing and movement, and is designed to be accessible to all abilities, genders, and experience levels.

Contact Rugby Union, on the other hand, is the full-contact version of the sport. It includes tackling, scrums, rucks, and more physical elements, and typically requires more preparation and experience.

For many of our members, Touch Rugby is a great starting point whether you're completely new to rugby, returning after time away, or simply prefer a non-contact format. It’s also a brilliant way to build skills, fitness, and confidence if you’re considering trying contact rugby in the future
